Awesome things I have heard while riding my bike

Hello, a lot of people know that I love riding my pedal bike and what started as a recreational activity during the summers has slowly turned into my primary mode of transportation. I have often thought I could write a book on just the things I have heard people say while I was riding my bike, particularly during the winter months and when it is raining, however I will just blog about it instead.

THINGS I HAVE HEARD, AND IGNORED, AS I WAS RIDING MY BIKE....

1) As I rode away from the downtown library I hear a mom talking to her son, "See, honey, that is why you read a lot and go to college so you can get a job so you can buy a car."
2) Look! If homeless people can afford helmets, everybody can.....
3) HOOOOOOOOOOOOONKKKKKKK! Get off the road.
4) Get a car you freak!!!!
5) More honking!
6) In the summer, during a flash flood and tornado warning a guy purposely drove close to the curb to spray me with water and proceeded to say "Wet now?".....that was really strange.

It is always interesting and it goes to show that you really shouldn't ever jump to conclusions because the truth is, I ride my bike because it is fun. I have a car, I go to college, and I have a sweet job. Anyway, have a good Monday people and don't judge others!

  2. Love this! I hear funny but mostly creepy things from people while mopeding. I especially hate it when I'm stuck at a stop light at a busy intersection and people stare at me. Another funny story: there is this girl I didn't really like but hung out with her anyway one night in Iowa City. She had walked to my house from downtown, but needed a ride home. I only had my moped at the time and she is a larger girl. I didn't really want to do it but she kept whining about it so I just drove her home.
The entire time she nearly knocked us over because she couldn't balance on the back and there wasn't enough room for the both of us on the seat so I had to basically squat while driving as she sat on the seat of my moped.
In a college town, there were plenty of people we passed by who thought this was hilarious and said some awfully mean things to both of us. I can't believe I was able to balance both of us and not get into an accident!
